12 Mangonadas You Need to Try Before Summer is Over
It’s no surprise that summers in Texas are hot and in order to survive we should obviously get a mangonada or two! Personally, it’s one of my favorite treats and so I thought I’d share my favorites (in no particular order) so that the next time you’re looking to get a mangonada in San Antonio, you’ll be set, or maybe you’re looking for a mangonada passport of sorts for the next five weeks! Please make note that these locations might not have dine-in options but are written as if they did (for an easier transition when we get back to normal).
LA PIÑA FRUTERIA
Potranco Area
It’s not hard to make a good mangonada but the experience is part of what makes you return. If you’re dining in you have access to additional chamoy and toppings making this super enjoyable if you’re like me and like adding these as I go through the mangonada experience. For my takeaway folks, they do offer you extra chili and the chamoy so you can add as you go!
What I get: While you can’t go wrong with the classic mangonada, the piña loca or the sandia loca. Their huge mangonadas served in the fruit with various toppings.

UTSA, Castle Hills + Stone Oak
Any mangonada with fresh fruit chunks is going to automatically be a win for me! Munchies has a great menu that also includes its cousin, the Fresanada. The best thing of all if you’re looking for looking to make a loved one or friend happy they have snacks to go along with the mangonada

BIG DADDY’S EATS AND TREATS
Southtown
Whenever I go downtown I literally always make a stop at Big Daddy’s before going home. They specialize in all kinds of icy treats so you’ll find one of the widest selections of -nadas here. You have your option of a traditional mangonada, fresanada, Cucumber Krumbler, Cocanada, or a piccadilly.
What I get: My personal favorite is the mangohill. It’s a traditional mangonada with cucumber slices. They also have one that looks like a bouquet so that one is great too it comes with sour powers. You’re also able to add sour powers to all your orders!

Chamoy City Limits
Monte Vista
I have been getting raspas from this joint for about 5 years now and needless to say, it’s not one to miss. While not a traditional mangonada spot, you seriously need to get here for all your chamoy needs! My mouth is watering as I write this. They’re currently weekends and curbside only but occasionally you can find their truck about town!
What I get: Salted Watermelon Raspa or the Lucas Mango Raspa and I never skip out on the kool-aid pickles and if they have anything chamoy’d, GET IT!

LAS MANGONADAS
St. Mary’s University
Word has it if you ever go into a spot and they greet you in Spanish, take your order in Spanish, and overall give you that experience, it’s gonna be good. Don’t worry they’ll still take care of you. Their mangonadas come with a fruit topping and you have the opportunity to essentially build your own -nada by mixing flavors. They are pricier than other spots but they are worth it.
What I get: I always get the traditional mangonada but I leave with paletas and an Aguas Fresca (horchata and sandia are the best)! They have a wide selection of flavors and include several traditional Mexican fruits. Also, they have gansito ice cream.

Alamo Ranch
Located in a parking lot, this to-go frozen treats truck is the spot on the Northwest side. Seriously, I doubt you won’t find a -nada you don’t like. They’re all super good and best of all you don’t have to get out of your car!
What I get: Classic mangonada is best but occasionally I’ll spice it up with a cucumerlimenada!

LAS NIEVES FRUIT CUPS + MORE
North Central + Beacon Hill
We are used to ordering a typical mangonada however at Las Nieves you’re able to build your own and add chili powder. What I like about the spot is that you have plenty of options to order Italian Ice, specifically your options include Tamarind, pina colada, And cantaloupe. So you can make your own -nada
What I get: I obviously always walk out with mango mixed with lime Italian ice, sandia, aguas frescas. If I wanna spice it up, I get a chupacabra. Great place to bring the kids with all their options for paletas!

CHAMOY DREAMS
Lackland Area
The granddaddy of them all, Chamoy Dreams is literally the place to get every kind of -nada! I'm serious you could get a basic mangonada or you could get something over-the-top, over the moon, extra AF. It’s completely drive thru and it’s a food truck with big Chamoy Dreams painted on the side. I missed it the first time.
What I get: I get the mangodilly with pickles and gummy bears on the side because I like adding them in as I’d like. I also get a guzano mango which is a cucumber preparado.

ICE ICE BABY
West Side
The most beautiful mangonada Award goes to Ice Ice Baby. Seriously you cannot find a place more extra then you do here. Every single treat they said through those doors is Instagram worthy.
What I get: You know I keep it classic but sometimes I go extra.

SEÑOR MANGO
North Central
If you’re a fan of Mexican snacks then I definitely recommend stopping at Señor Mango, it’s got a classic Mango Chango (their name for Mangonadas) with dulces tamarindos which makes this mangonada slightly different from the others. If you can’t find them, look for the Beer-n-all, just sayin you could make this mangonada a party (safely). They also carry Mexican cotton candy and other -nadas to choose from. T
What I get: Always a mangonada but occasionally a chamoyada. I never leave without a manzana preparada or a Mexican cotton candy.

I used to go to this place back when I babysat the most amazing kid. I don’t watch him anymore but I still go back when I’m on that side of town or visit Kung Fu Noodle.
What I get: Classic Mangonada or when I’m feeling spicy a Strawberry Explosion

EL AMIGO SNACK
Southside
I find a lot of mangonada spots when I’m basically in the area and craving them. Literally driving around and setting the intention. That’s how I found this spot. Their mangonadas come with fresh fruit and they have a selection of other snacks to choose from too!
What I get: Classic mangonada with cucumber, sandia, and mango fresh fruit. It’s a two in one mangonada fruit cup treat!
